Per User Volume Adjustment

Reported by: FWishbringer Owned by: ekilfoil
Priority: major Milestone: Unscheduled
Component: libventrilo3 Version: 0.0
Keywords: Cc:

Description

Ventrilo contains the option to set a volume filter on individuals.

Some individuals have poor equipment, and can only attain a very quiet input, while others are too loud. My other suggestion for normalization only covers 90% of the population, the outlying 10% are unable to be corrected the same.

This is where being able to set a volume adjust per user (ventrilo allows for 0% volume to 800% volume) which saves over disconnects would be invaluable.

This should allow a volume slider on an individual, which when enabled, adjusts their volume level up or down, and if they disconnect and reconnect, it should reapply it, and if the user disconnects and reconnects, it should apply them automatically to all users with them set. I would suggest display name + ip address as a reference, for those who have multiple clients connecting from a LAN.

Replying to Haxar:

We have this feature already.

Don't think we are on the same page. Lets say there are 5 people and you in a channel. Lets say 1 of the others is super super quiet, and 1 is super super loud. In ventrilo, you can right click on them and under the misc options, set a volume filter on them, and increase or decrease -that person's- volume, as heard by you. Setting it in ventrilo places an S in front of their name, indicating you have a special filter applied to them.

Now, in mangler, I'm running trunk with alsa, and selecting a person gives me the options of copy comment, copy url, kick, ban, or mute. The only volume control I can find is in Settings, and its applied globally.

Double click on the user and a window will pop up to adjust.

I know we don't have docs on the GUI yet. ;p
