So the program works for all intensive purposes. I can connect, use push to talk, talk away, and hear my buddies. So all is a go in that sense. Sound quality wise though they can immediately tell it's Mangler and not Vent because they say I sound like I'm in my bathroom or something. Another buddy said it sounds like I have a lot of white noise or I'm on a lowerish quality mic outside or something.

I'm currently using Ubuntu 10.04 + PulseAudio, and yeah its just weird. I'm not sure if it's mangler, the codec settings for the sound, or else the drivers for my input device.
