Hello Magler forums!
I am giving Ubuntu 10.10 a test run on my main gaming rig (loving it so far ^.^) and i recently found Mangler which solved my biggest issue of not having a native ventrilo client for linux. I was astonished when i found out that there is a built-in applet for my Logitech G15 keyboard!
1 problem, though (why else would i be posting? :p) I can only get the applet to display the screen with the "M" logo and an event log (not very useful). I saw <a href="http://www.mangler.org/2010/04…..d-support/">this blog post and saw that there is an alternate screen that shows everything i need (the first screen in this post). However, i cannot seem to get that first screen to display, only the less-than-useful second screen displays on my keyboard.
Anyone who can seem to get the first screen to display, please help!
Note: i only installed the lastest version of the g15 daemon from <a href="http://www.g15tools.com/node/182">this website and nothing else. do i need to install something else to switch the screens on the Mangler applet? I can switch between the clock and the mangler applet at will.

Ya know.. I never actually wrote that screen… I only did that mockup.
But since you asked, I've gone ahead and wrote that and committed to SVN… so either wait for the next version (which may be a ways off) or grab the code in SVN and build it.

Thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately, I am quite new to Linux and it's terminology, so i ask: What is SVN and what do you mean by build?
I've only taken a single programming class on Visual Basic way back in freshman year of high school, so if extensive programming is required to "build", aside from typing out a few lines of code, i think i'll jsut wait on the next version Howeer if you can link a quick tutorial to start me on my way to building this, i may take a stab at it.

At the top of the page here, there's a menu option that says "BUILDING"
Click that if you want to give it a shot. Remove your existing package first though: sudo apt-get remove mangler
To check out the source from SVN, install subversion: sudo apt-get install subversion
Then run: svn co http://svn.mangler.org/mangler/trunk/ mangler

Seeing as how we're not building Debian packages any longer and both Debian and Ubuntu refuse to package Mangler, your only option is going to be building it manually or bitching at Debian and/or Ubuntu to package it.
You should complain about that on their respective forums. I'm not dealing with those idiots any more until they get serious.

About that…
I am very new to the linux scene (if you discount my Droid Incredible), and i'm not too familiar with how things work around here, so i wouldn'y feel comfortable "bitching" to anyone. What does it take to package something for Debian/Ubuntu? Is it like the approval process for, say, the Android Marketplace?

Debian has finally added the package into their repos, so Ubuntu 11.11 should include it.
