I am having some sort of audio problem

Before you do anything else, go to your settings window, open the audio tab, and look at the "Audio Subsystem" setting.  Then consult this handy flowchart to figure out if it's set correctly:

If that's set properly, then search the forums.  If you can't find an answer, make a post.  It will be helpful if you include which distribution and which audio subsystem you're trying to use.  If you don't include that, that's going to be the first question that's asked.

Also, mentioning which codec your server is using won't hurt either.
