The latest revision number of the trunk is now r651. Since r639, many things have been changed for the original patch to not work. Steps to make it work again:
This will revert all changes in your Mangler trunk directory and will update to the latest revision.
Updated patch: http://mangler.pastebin.com/ThmPeDBt
'patch' will strip cartridge returns from pastebin.
cd /path/to/mangler/trunk
svn -R revert ./
svn up
wget http://mangler.pastebin.com/do…..i=ThmPeDBt -O mangler-xosd_r651.patch
cat mangler-xosd_r651.patch | patch -p0
./configure && make

radu (iirc): These fourms ate up your previous post while editing the link. The patch from the new pastebin link should include the osd.* source files now.

Confirming that Haxar's patch works! Tahnk you very much and keep up the good job!
Also, one can use dos2unix to convert the pastebin, if needed.

This is in the lastest trunk now so there is no need for the patch.

Last post says it's included in the trunk. I just downloaded a developer snapshot, and I don't see an overlay when others are talking.

You need to install libxosd (and the development files if you're on a distro that uses them).

Yea i'm pretty dumb sometimes. I thought I had, but I had an open terminal with sudo apt-get install libosxd libosxd-dev waiting for a passowrd. DOH!!
Anyways, just got a CPP small program able to get text-to-speech with espeak, now I need to figure out where the events in mangler are called when someone joins a channel and how to figure out who joined. I'll admit my programming days are like 10 years behind me. But the program works with a static word, so need to figure out where the vent events are handled in mangler.

Ok I have it installed, and still no overlay going on. Do I have to click a setting or something? Or Do I have to compile my own?

Yes, you need to compile it, so you will possibly need more of those -dev or -devel (whatever they are for your system) to do that, and the subversion sources of course.

Sorry, but I'm kinda new to Ubuntu and I got the Snapshot of Mangler and libxosb2 installed, do I need the dev version too? and what else do I have to do to see overlay.

Overlay working as intended here with x11-libs/xosd 2.2.14,
the overlay can be hard to spot at first and you won't see it unless someone is transmitting something, so make sure someone is transmitting.

The overlay support is not available in the snapshot. You'll need to compile from source.
