I have tried and used mangler and I absolutely love it and it works great but today my request is for something non-related but also equally helpful.
I have noticed that emesene has great video support but no audio support. While on the otherhand aMSN is very buggy and pidgin just does not care about bringing audio / video to anyone. The pidgin gtalk stuff works but in the meantime the gtalk webcam stuff is not even fully implemented. Basically what I am wanting is for someone to look into coding an emesene voice plugin because webcam works exellent in emesene already and if it had voice support I think it would be a promising msn client. My old setup in windows was to use pidgin + msn live messenger. If emesene worked with voice chat I could still do this in linux basically and I think many other people would do similar things. I would say gyachi is a good yahoo client also but it is a dead project afaik. The easiest thing to fix would be voice in emesene and it seems like it could be done with telepathy libs or something because this is how empathy does it. I would recommend empathy but the code for empathy is just too buggy and empathy is not compatible with all systems. Plus the ui for empathy is ugggggggly and not too configurable for theming or anything like that. Better support in pidgin or in emesene in plugin form would be appreciated by so many people. I hear tons of people ask about this and nobody ever has an answer. I think if anyone could do it, the developers of mangler certainly could and it would please so many people just to fix those small things since the pidgin developers certainly have no interest in doing it and empathy is buggy and I've seen no mention of voice support for emesene yet, and I have checked their forums and everything. Anyway this is just something I thought would be worth mentioning. I love mangler and I think the development on that should continue as long as possible. Keep up the excellent work …
