A Ventrilo Compatible Client for Linux
Logitech G15 LCD Support
Thanks to a handful of donations, I was able to purchase a Logitech G15 keyboard so I could add support for the LCD. I’ve got the technical details worked out of how to display stuff, but I’m not sure what is most useful to display.
The screen is 160×43, so there is very limited space. The “medium” font size is reasonable for quick information. The “small” font takes more than a glance and large font just doesn’t give enough characters per line.
I’ve come up with this (the top line is the “small” font and the others are “medium”):
LastXmit is the user that last transmitted something
SrvrJoin is the last user that joined the server
ChanJoin is the last user that joined your channel
Ping is the name of a duck in China
Or this style, which is really just an event log (I’m actually just showing off that I got the logo on there):
Certainly, the community can come up with better ideas… so post your thoughts here. For bonus points, draw a mockup in 160×43 (or at least to scale… like 320×86)

Most useful: current transmitter
That’s all that really matters.

I agree with clearscreen – current transmitter is the only thing that matters. Well, there could be also ping/connection status displayed, just in case .. for the lagging ones
I’m also G-15 (oldsk00l version) user btw
Finally there will be some use of LCD screen for me, lol. Otherwise there was all the time just clock showing ..

Current transmitter.
Whether or not you are currently transmitting (an XMIT light like you have)
Current channel. Maybe current server
ping.
Is it possible to make it so pushing the buttons on the keyboard show different information?
Cause sometimes the “who talked last” feature is nifty if someone queues up for a short amount of time and you cant catch it on the bar. but the other features are more important and should be shown by default.

Would it be possible to change the screen conditional upon if a channel is selected?
You could for example have a welcome screen with the Mangler logo (which is quite sexy BTW), server name, names of the channels sorted in descending order by number of users connected. This screen should scroll to show all channels.
Once a channel is selected, display the channel name, and a list of the last 3 or 4 users to transmit (current transmitting user in a slightly larger font perhaps?)
If you have a way to remotely identify jukeboxes, they should pop up at the bottom of the display with a current track name through the first 3-5 seconds of play (jukebox name need not be displayed). This would probably need to be outlined by some sort of box.

Would it be possible to add a feature to turn it on and off?
