I have to go with Yeay for Main GUI checkboxes.

Wouldn't mind what William Lightning describes, ie menu driven but with status of both mutes on the Main GUI. But i think i prefer the checkboxes if possible.

My input is, no checkboxes. However have a note at the bottom in red or yellow, letting the user know that they have their mic muted/sound muted. Something along the lines of how pidgin displays notices of disconnect. Have it go away when they unmute the sound/mic.

This way it doesn't cause loss of space, but keeps it visible.

I must disagree with linkmaster03. I personally think that if ANY option to hide these mute boxes would lead to instances of end user difficulty.E.g. An end user being the victim of a malicious user checking the mutes, then hiding the check boxes.

I say you put the boxes on the main GUI by default, but have an option to hide them like you can do with the buttons on the left.

I have to agree with zivs. These settings are easily forgotten about, and a simple visual cue right on the front of the app will stop stupid support issues from the get go. Both from expirienced users who just forgot and new users alike.

It would be easier to oversee those settings from Main GUI - sometimes (in other programs) users can easily forget those simple settings and wonder around why he can't hear/see anything or tell anything ... This way you can instantly spot those things :)

I say - let them be on Main GUI!
